 The above patch fixes the issue for me (I'm not sure if it's the right way
 to do it, so please test if it doesn't have side effects).

 The problem was actually only with the menubar in openwrt-light and
 openwrt.org themes; I missed the fact that the other strings displaying
 incorrectly were actually containing "'" verbatim in the translation
 file.

 The patch fixes both the menubar and the wrong strings in po/fr/base.po.
