There was a rather nasty bug in the CBI component which prevented the values from being
saved correctly. This should now be fixed in both trunk and luci-0.8 branch.

To create a vlan use the switch config page to assign the ports, then create a new
interface, select "custom" in the interface drop down and type "eth0.X" as name where X is
the number of your vlan. You can then use the checkbox on the network overview page to
trigger ifup for the newly created vlan.
