[luci] network.lua:628: attempt to index upvalue '_ubus' (a nil value)

Hello folks,

I'm using luci-0.12 on OpenWRT Barrier Breaker.
I tried to set up lighttpd as described[1]:

The interface loads fine - but ajax requests (for status information,
etc.) are failing. Using firebug I was able to see the response:
